THE HYBRID BUILDER

A 4-day split that pairs a strength block with a short conditioning finisher every session — built for lifters who want to get stronger without giving up their engine.

Intermediate
Duration
50 min / session
Frequency
4x per week
Equipment
Barbell, dumbbells, erg/bike

Why this routine

Hybrid sessions are showing up more than ever — lifters are blending strength, conditioning, and mobility into the same workout instead of splitting them across separate days. The Hybrid Builder follows that shift: every session opens with a heavy compound lift, then closes with a short, focused conditioning piece so you leave with both strength and engine work done.

The split

Day 1 — Push + Engine
Squat focus, row intervals
Day 2 — Pull + Carry
Deadlift focus, loaded carries
Day 3 — Mobility Reset
Active recovery day
Day 4 — Full-Body Finisher
Compound circuit, bike sprint

Day 1 — Push + Engine

Warm up with 5 minutes easy bike or row plus two ramp-up sets on the squat before working sets.

ExerciseSetsReps / TimeRest
Back Squat462 min
Barbell Overhead Press3890 sec
Walking Lunge (dumbbell)312 / leg60 sec
Row Erg Intervals6250m90 sec

Coaching notes

Add weight to the squat only when all four sets land at 6 clean reps. If the row intervals are wrecking your squat numbers, that's a sign to slow the intervals down rather than skip them — the engine work is there to build capacity, not to leave you gassed for next session.
